![]() Here is a link to the truck bed side and front panel removal, etc. You will find very convenient holes in the back of the license plate to route wires. Although the manual is very skimply, and other than an assortment of diagrams tells you very little. All in all, this appears to be a well thought out design. The S/V connectors have extended rubber sleeves so no bare metal is exposed when joined. There is an S-Video connection between the +12V, ground, RCA monitor output, and the cable routed from the camera. A heat-shrink tube is included to protect this connection from the elements. This consists of very small 4 pin connectors. There is a connection between the camera and the long cable. This is fine for me, as I have a backup sensor system (HitchScan) that is connected to the backup lights. So it is not designed to connect to the backup lights, directly. It brings them up to the front along with the video output. This Boyo does not split off backup light (+12v) and ground connections at the rear as is the case with many cams. I used this link to find the reverse light circuit at the driver’s kick panel. I wanted something that worked well and would be reliable over the long haul, just like my truck. There are even cheaper GPS/cam systems around if you search hard enough. Getting one with a CCD cam would be preferable, but I have not read any glowing reports on 4UCam gps performance. I have not tried it so can not comment on the performance. A quality backup camera like the Garmin BC 30 can significantly enhance rearward visibility for drivers and, thus, help minimise the risk of blind zone. Integrates with many nüvi® and dezlT products. There is one Magellan unit that also has a cam input. The item Garmin BC40 Wireless BackUp Reversing Camera Mount for Camper 780 010-12669-30 is in sale since Friday, July 26, 2019. Even the latest Garmin 37XX series ($300-400) do not have a video input. The 5000 is a discontinued model, but it is hard to find any other GPS that has a video input and is also a reasonably good GPS. The Garmin Nuvi 5000 is only one of a few protable GPS units that sports an automatic switching video input. In fact, I think it gives me too much glare at night with this cam, especially with the very wide viewing angle (170 deg) I may go back to the stock bulbs. You really need them with a CMOS cam IMO. I converted my backup lamps to brighter (V_LED) led equivalents. Mounting high allows you to have the same camera angle of back and possibly down. Also dont know if the wiper clears that area, but it seems like a good bet. Sharper, better color, and works better at night. I am not by my van right now to see if there are any obstructions from the back window (defroster lines, or other areas). The combination of wired and CCD will yield the best perfomance. It works fine & I’ll include some extra cables, etc. I will likely be selling the CMOS cam cheap. Thanks to my own procrastination, it was too late to exchange it, and I found a good price on a Boyo VTL425 CCD at Amazon. I would have finished more than a month ago, but changed out the original CMOS plate cam. $8 - 1 x Metra Electronics 40-HD10 Factory Antenna Cable(for connecting the factory antenna to aftermarket radio)įor running the backup camera wire and tapping into the reverse gear wire, I followed this video.I just completed the install of my backup camera. $17 - 1 x Metra 70-7863 Amplifier Retention Wire Harness(for connecting headunit to factory EX harness. $18 - Scosche Dash Kit for 2003-06 Honda Element Din with Pocket and Double Din.Ģ x $7 - 2 x Metra 72-7800 Speaker Connector Harnesses to make door speakers plug and play. $100 - 1 x Kicker 43CWRT672 150W RMS 6.75" CompRT to replace the stock subwoofer. $14 - MicroBypass(for allowing to change Pioneer head unit options while driving)Ģ x $30 - 2 x set of Pioneer TSG1645R Speakers for the front and rear doors. $32 - PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface(control the radio using the stock steering wheel controls) My girlfriend just recently bought an 06 EX and I redid all the audio and added a backup camera. ![]()
